Invoker sup tips in General Discussion
sexy rose~

Hi, my crusader friend insists on plying invo support. we have lost most of our matches due to that. do you have any suggestions how can he better his gameplay? (he always plays Elitis and also does many good Suns, consider him leveling up 1 Exort early)
he thinks building force staff is the best option for invoker most of the time. he uses that to put a ice wall under enemy heroes and also to survive. I recommended him buy urn of shadow instead, he did it in 2 games, then he had less survivability and died more frequently. I'd say he uses Suns not bad comparing to his rank. many of his kills he gets from suns cause he focuses alot on that.

    his sup matches:

also, I'd like to know if he could ply invo mid with Elitis (he doesn't ply the attacker way like building Witch blade or Hurricane)
    Thank you!

Hey I absolutely enjoy playing support invoker, some tips i have for him

Role Position: Invoker is best as a Pos 4 support thats the first thing.

Abilities: Understanding invokers abilites. Have him build Quas, Wex to the max because he needs to learn those four abilities first. He should be able to do the combinations without thinking about it, once he masters that then he can go on to Exort and of course as the game goes on you level up Exort but he needs to master Quas, Wex first he shoudn't put a level into exort until Lvl 12.

Items: Now because he is a support he isn't focused on damage his main focus should be control as a Quas, Wex support invoker you just want to make sure kills are being secured and have control on how the fights are going to go. URN is the biggest and most important item on Invoker Support(IMO) it works in conjuction with cold snap and without it would feel like the hero is lacking a lot not only that it really helps the team. After that he can go whatever he wants depending on the game for me I sometimes go Drum of Endurance sometimes I go Force staff and sometimes I go Euls, the main thing he needs to get after urn is a mobile item something that'll help him position correctly or get him out of sticky situations and those items even blink can go a long way.

The rest is pretty much repetition I can type out a whole essay on it. Once he masters the combination of his Quas, Wex everything else will follow through.
Last comment would be he needs to understand his Combos first such as Cold Snap, into EMP, into Whirlwind or Whirlwind into EMP, then Cold Snap, once he finds a nice combo he feels comfortable in doing it would help him master the combos of Quas, Wex cause now he has a combo list in his mind instead of just guessing which ability is off cooldown.

No idea why you tell not to level exort untill l12. Without exort you can't cast ice wall, which is a pain in the ass with quas maxed. Without exort you can't cast alacrity for a super-high attack speed with wex (you'll need it for the cold snap proc). Without exort you can't cast a blast with long debuffs. You can't learn a hero by not using 2/3 of his spells

        xyzFaith

^Cause if he is new to the hero, he doesn't know all the combos if he learns just quas wex adding in exort would be easy, you think a crusader is going to know when to use those added abilities with exort, do you not realize how overwhelming it can be when you have 9 abilities to choose from and you don't know which one is on cooldown since you are able to only have two showing at a time in the middle of a fight? You thinking of how you would play instead of someone who is new to the hero. And who the hell maxes out quas first on a support invoker? You max out wex before quas or exort.

And you most definitely can, majority of dota heroes only have 4 abilities anyways so just having quas wex isn't going to change a whole lot and you realize invokers innate allows him to lvl up thru denies so he can get to lvl 12 fairly fast compared to other supports. Instead of looking at my tips how about you make tips of your own for the guy?

            invoker is fun

faith, dude, you shouldn't overestimate difficulty of Invoker. I was ok with micro on him when I was 14 y.o 1500 mmr trash, it was enough for me to know how to throw spells and a bit of practice. basically adding exort doesn't making it something extremely hard to use invo, still adds powerful spells to your arsenal - ice wall is extremely effective and dude should know how to use it after tornado, that's wasting potential

I'm not giving my tips as you can totally see from my account I'm not playing voker for like 5 years since he lost his midlane potential and I'm not a pos4 player. It's just that you can't master hero without using his whole potential, I can tell it since I've learned QW first

              xyzFaith

Lior, dude, the game itself shows the difficulty of invoker and he definitely not on the tier of sniper on difficulty. If you are not giving tips then you are wasting your time in here commenting. It doesn't matter what you did or what you are capable of cause its not about you. I'm giving a simple tip in what helped me, give your tip and move on if you have no tips don't comment in here.

I'm not looking at your account cause again this forum thread isn't about you. Give a tip and move on.

Hey, @xyzFaith as you said in your first comment, his main problem is that in long fight, it gets so hard to decide which spell to build and he also doesn't know which spells are still in CD; as you said, he only sees 2 slots for spells and not the others.
guess it's time to change his main hero, as Invo has had negative winrate for a long time. he fell from Crusader to Guardian now. the thing is, it's not a reliant support, and in our rank when he plays it Mid, enemy mid with a right click Sniper (no last hit for invo, he can just watch), Sf, OD easily smashes him.

Hello, could u pls let me know when to pick which "Facet" of invoker? does it depend on the enemy in your lane or do you look at the whole enemy draft before choosing that? what do u consider for opting. thanks

                    xyzFaith

Depends on your playstyle and what you plan on doing, yeah your enemies take a factor but if you are support do you really need to be focus on right click damage? Basically you are choosing between being a right click carry or disablor/control support. I personally do elitist every time and never the ladder.
