I am not as good at SS as you are so take this with a grain of salt.
Consider what you get from skilling that one point in hex as opposed to the two other skills. By level 5 you will be missing out on either 60 damage per hero hit if you skill Ether Shock to level 3, or 100 damage and an extra 0.75 seconds of disable from Shackles. In high level/professional games, players are able to synergize their spells and auto attacks to a degree that the extra 1.75 seconds of disable from Hex is negligible compared to the benefits of having extra burst damage. I could also get better at this, but you will get better at knowing exactly what HP threshold an offlaner has and if they can be killed by you and your carry's spell damage + 3/4 auto attacks each.
Also, in your 15 games, consider how many times you've ran out of mana in the lane while the offlaner hasn't been forced out of lane. By investing your skill points in only 2 skills, each point of mana will go further in a laning battle that is won through attrition warfare. Add this onto how well 2 levels in both Ether Shock and Shackles scale compared to their level 1 counterparts, I would rarely consider skilling Hex before level 4.
Those rare conditions where I would skill Hex sooner would be as follows:
-You are in a lane against an evasive but squishy offlaner (or safelaner) such as Anti-mage, Faceless Void, Pango, Nature's Prophet, etc.
-You have a carry that greatly benefits from the extra attacks allowed from an extra disable. I'm thinking primarily Ursa here, but Slark and Anti-mage are qualifiers too.
-You are expecting a high value channel spell to come online for an opponent and allow for easy ganks on your carry.
Hope this helps!
Well lvl 1 hex does suck ass so if I take an early point in it then I’d rather at least take a second point in it.
1 for win the lane. 3 is his main weapon (gang). 2 is skill for high level shaman example mid shaman.
Herald rank = SHACKLES REALLY GOOD TO MAX
Ancient rank = SHACKLES IS DECENT
IMMORTAL rank = SHACKLES 1 value point (Unless no stun on lane)
I got no idea what im talking about btw. - im suprised about 2 Skill points in hex from Cr1t - but I rarely play the hero :D
But he is danish so he is smart
I have seen Saksa's build as well, pretty similar to Cr1t from the first 4 level but then he went for 1 3 3 build. Pretty cool hero to practice I would say
I like to play him so you have this level 7.
4-1-1-1 and then just spam the lightning on heroes/ranged creep
Edit: But hard to argue with Cr1t's build since he is a god.

What's up there, I have been spamming shaman for only 15 matches and mainly follow Cr1t-'s skill build on shadow shaman ( 2 2 2 1). That build is pretty reliable and also give extra cc time for team. However, when looking at top tier shaman player, I have seen oftentimes people build 1st and 3rd only. Is there any good reason behind that or just they feel confident with that style? Thanks.
