OD item build and play style in General Discussion

Hi guys, how do u play OD? Need item build and play style tips pls. Thanks

    Nile

Rush Atos against mobile heroes, otherwise rush pike.

      meteor hammer

buy pike then blink. use this combo to blow people up and get int while maintaining a safe distance. od is all about getting to hit things without getting jumped.

you can blow a whole team up very quickly, you just need 2 things. Items, and good positioning.

As long as you let your teammates tank disables, and stay out of sight until you are ready to jump in, you can get a cool 16 int and halve one persons hp immediately, then start to go to work.

after pike you want items like BKB, hex, and shivas. bkb is absolutely necessary as a midlane carry who is kinda fragile but has low range. It lets you stand and fight without getting focused down

hex is an item that you only need because of BKBs and ghosts. sadly, because bkbs and ghosts exist you must buy this item eventually. Hex ensures that when you start hitting someone, they will die before they can pop their defensive items and get away or kill you. Just like pike, it helps secure you the int that you need to get the ball rolling

shivas is usually a more lategame oriented item. it gives you huge chunk of int and some of the best physical EHP in the game, but doesn't have the game breaking active effects of BKB or hex. This item is best bought against tinker after bkb, because the aoe will give vision and disable his blink dagger, letting you kill him easily

Usually at this point my inventory is full, removing any of these 1 items hurts really badly in a standard game

Other options are silver edge, which gives you even more burst and some nice stats. it also makes you able to sneak around the edge of fights

Atos is nice, but it's basically a cheap hex that doesn't work against ghosts or bkbs, and doesn't disable some skills like LS's rage or ursa's ult. really good against storm because you can bring him from 70% mana to basically nothing with 2 hits + ult

You can buy skadi. It's basically a similar idea to shivas. great stats, and decent tankiness. The difference is that skadi gives you about 700 raw hp, where shivas gives you 15 armor and an attack slow. This means that you might buy skadi if you want an hp item against magic damage after bkb, although i've never run into this scenario

skadi is also decent at kiting I found, similar to shivas but it goes thru bkb, maybe against lifestealer alongside a shivas to be ultra tanky?
          just don't do this

          arin

. bkb is absolutely necessary as a midlane carry who is kinda fragile

            no

you don't have slots for skadi

i saw silver edge on arteezy once, it was a stomp but i guess it's ok against pa since you dont want mkb on od

            meteor hammer

i doubt butterflys that bad as a shiva alternative. similar ehp just no int and some attack speed instead. doubt its amazing but you would hit buildings harder and gain int faster

if you still have issues with kiting after sheep and pike and blink youve got serious issues though. and i think silver edge might be more what you are looking for unless you are trying to slow down a bkb'd sven.

unfortunately your range for applying the orb is tragically short and hitting magic immune enemies is essentially a waste of time on a hero that needs every second he can get

              arin

how do you compare butter and shiva??????????

                meteor hammer

ill fight u to the fucking death on bkb od. he has it in 4/5 of the front top games, and 11/20 of them total. the only time you definitely dont buy it is against overwhelming physical damage with low disables, tb, pa type shit.

if you are ahead enough to skip it great. but you are risking giving a shitton of gold because you got storm hammered like a dumbass and died first, then got teamwiped

                  meteor hammer

dude he can buy dagon and win in that bracket. at that point the 30 int and flying vision+slow is comparable to 30 damage, 60 ias, and flutter. 35% evasion + 5 armor vs 15 armor + attack slow probably goes in favor of butterfly in terms of ehp.

im not saying to buy butterfly, i would bet it's optimal in 0/100 games. but if ur gonna fuck around at least hes not buying daedalus lmao

                    meteor hammer

wheres my rebuttal arin this was firing my neurons

                      also

you don't have slots for skadi

Usually at this point my inventory is full, removing any of these 1 items hurts really badly in a standard game

                      Shou

idc tbh it was just pretty funny lol
I was thinking abt going eblade also for the burst

                        despair

Null talisman + bottle + wand early game, then rush force staff(for positioning and extra mobility) then go either pike or atos, then bkb or linken then scythe or shiva then octarine/refresher.
Also max 2nd skill first because it is a
                          Reliable disable

                          Shou

                            u get 2 nulls btw

                            arin

ill fight u to the fucking death on bkb od. he has it in 4/5 of the front top games, and 11/20 of them total. the only time you definitely dont buy it is against overwhelming physical damage with low disables, tb, pa type shit.

i dont really feel a need to buy bkb against 4ks unless i'm actually focused every single time with 50 stuns
                              linkens better
