slardar removes your armor, and the dispersion damage reduction works before tha armor calculation, therefore significantly reducing the damage taken.
Not only that, how often is he hitting solo targets? He's be wasting his skill points if he went desolate. Remember, that shit is a bonus.
1) So are you saying if he wasn't against a Slardar he'd go for desolate instead?
2)He was hitting solo targets no less often than your average spectre game; in fact, he was hitting them more because the enemy team had 4 ranged heroes and he was in quite a lot of fights with his snowballing team.
It's funny how a thread I made a while back had people calling the idea worthless and trash and now that I have the name Fear people are coming up with really mediocre reasonings.
slardar reasoning makes sense, but don't listen to "i don't buy blink on enigma and I do buy bf on pa in 2017" fucking benao
lmao
Because people c0cksucks pros rofl miracle n3w m3ta!!!1 xdddd
I clearly stated previously that I have no idea when maxing dispersion 2nd is good and still don't know why
Excuse me? my mmr is 2.3k and according to valve i am above average (2.1k) so my opinion must be respected and my analysis on the game is legit and im going on factual basis. I dont like to kiss ass of any pro without any reason. U have no right to criticize it u bastard.
desolate doesn't scale as good as dispersion into late game since the pure damage from desolate remains the same. IMO maxing desolate before dispersion is just plain stupid 99% of the time
no it doesn't, its like 50 extra hp, when an extra point in desolate cud allow u to get turn around kills and come back with good haunt teamfights.
Probably has 4 glass cannons behind him so he does the tanking job
Against a Slardar who can amplify damage by like 50%, isn't it more like 100-200 extra hp??
pretty sure if it wasnt vs slardar he would have went desolate yeah
but i dont know im not him
Spectre has VERY poor armor and doesnt build armor items, so dispersion is HUGE value vs a Slardar.
"desolate doesn't scale as good as dispersion into late game since the pure damage from desolate remains the same. IMO maxing desolate before dispersion is just plain stupid 99% of the time"
i really hope this is just a joke
I have not seen the game but a Pro doing this build once does not make it viable...
Can you link the game?

He went the usual max Dagger build, and the usual Phase Urn build as well. But he maxed Dispersion instead of Desolate next.
He was against a Slardar and 4 ranged heroes.
I semi-theorycrafted this a while back, but it just seemed like a flawed build. Desolate does seem just ... Better. Is there merit to this build? What do the high lvl players think?
