I have no regrets for buying i7 7700k when that thing just launched and not waiting for ryzen, I fucking knew this will happen. And that cpu will last me for yeeeaaaars.
It is noticably better at least. Coinsidering the fact that in Overwatch, CS GO and some other games, Ryzen 1800X struggles to keep up with Haswell Refresh i7 4790k.
i7 7770k leaves top ryzen in dust. Check the results for minimum CS GO fps... Not to mention a lot of minimum FPS is below expected for 122/144hz gaming monitors..
a disapointment imo. Not even stable at 4.2GHz 1.45V, RAM can't go above 2600MHz, TDP ain't that great once overclocked.
Even for pro usage CPU is decent, price is good for that purpose, but people who'll need tunderbolt and quadchannel RAM won't find it buying Ryzen
Also i7 7700k is not way more expansive than ryzen, if at all. and is a way better gaming cpu
anyway cpu isnt that relevant for gaming, so the minor difference between ryzen and 7700k is negligible

It has its niche. Top ryzen isn't even meant to compete in terms of gaming anyway (it is good in terms of workstation/production workloads). It is over hyped for sure, but for it to be considered 'RIP' is also an over statement.

Depends greatly what type of gamer you are. If you stream games, you will go for ryzen, not even a contest.
Not only that but looking at other benchmarks Ryzen Seems to destroy intel, meaning once games get optimized for ryzen intel will have to adjust their prices.

Since you, as always talk with half assed knowledge, let me enlighten you. AMD uses a different method of encoding video which makes the quality better while taking less performance. Meaning if you stream with ryzen ur picture will be better than if you stream from an intel. Which also can be seen on linus videos.
That's the difference between professional people doing benchmarks and some dimwitt testing games on 1080p in 2017 on a 500dollar CPU. fucksake.
Not only that, the comparison in that video is also 1700x vs 7700k not the 1800x, but vertix is confirmed mentally unstable, so It's fine.

1080p benchmarks. ALso ofc i ignore that part with CS:GO, Highest Frequency monitor u can get is 240hz, why would it matter if your CPU can potentially get more than 240 if u aint going over again.

If you plan on upgrading your CPU you need to check what PSU ( power supply) and what socket you have right now.
Go download CPU-Z and when you start it, look at mainboard tab. Tell us then which socket you have.
