It's always the last bit of the climb that's the hardest. I was where you are now about a year ago and and sat there for about 6 months. It was a struggle with +1 win -1 loss type scenarios. You need to understand and use player behaviors to your benefit.
Examples.
1. Everyone in your games with 4900+ is close to the goal of 5K so are desperate for the win. They will pick cores cause they all believe people are gonna hold them back, in the same way you feel now. The end is close, but don't let your frustration at the last pick dictate you're play. Play as if you have no goal but to win.
2. Some players maybe just over 5K by small amounts and as such feel they're superior cause of the 50 MMR that divides you and them, I know it's hard but pander to them, the moment you create resistence they tilt, and tilt you and around this area it's so easy to do. Don't be like that, be calm, level-headed.
It happened for me it can happen for you, I went from 4.9 to about 5.6 in about a 4 month period while previously I sat at 4.9 for like a year. Same thing happened for Triplesteal. Once you get over the hump it's (not always) smooth sailing for the most part.

cuz im actually pretty nervous of playing now that im 1 win away to high skill; its my first time getting out of normal skill after 2 YEARS so im hyped lel
2 reasons:
1. ladder pressure on you
2. Backwards ladder pressure on 5.1k+ to not fall into 4k
Aka games are actually hardest at the x000 ranges
2-3 times in the last week, I've been over 5k before so I'm kinda lying but after frequent breaks I drop and then get it back, but it's always that last game that seems to be just a pile of steaming poop.
But I don't think that first game is anything to do with a mental block when naix abandons and mid meepo goes 0-10 and abandons too. Especially when I was 4-0

Well, 4 consecutive losses now. Only one do I feel I didn't play well or helped towards the loss.
This game is aids at times
Well I have to agree that weird things happen before reaching 5k. Amount of weird picks, 2 people fighting for mid, people countering themselves... well it makes me tilt too ez.
Sometimes i feel like quiting this game cos of the cancer amount. You are only 100 points from 5k but sometimes if feels like miles away.
yep, in my last 4 games i've had 2 games with abandons on my team, one wild feed fest and only one game i'd call decent, which we narrowly lost anyway because Kunkka die back
