The first time you play a game you get asked what your current game exp is like. I assume telling the system that you have previous dota 2 exp will automatically send you to the smurf pool.

the system kinda tracks u, and if u r good on ur main, u usually get a decent starting mmr in the first game.

I made a new account and my first match was with 2k noobs who were easy to dominate. My account is 3.5/3.8k mmr, so I wanted to see how I would play on a new account just for fun. But anyway, why do people get HS/VHS bracket games in their first games?
