Blizzard's not the one making new patches. Dota1 is currently in version 6.85 which is 99% like dota2 v 6.85. A lot of people still play dota1 especially in the middle east, Eastern Europe, China, SEA and North Africa. Dota1 is the most popular LAN game in my country. No tournaments. You can download warcraft then map dota v6.85c rgc version then download RGC and you are good to go.
The latest official (as in, made by Icefrog) version is 6.83C. It seems that other developers have stepped up and started creating their own versions, backporting balance changes from mainline Dota 2 patches.
Me and my friends spend our nights with some beer playing LoD :D But its sad that we only play wc3 for LoD xD

Well they have PITLORD and proberly a mon bugged Eye of skadi so i would rate it 30% better than Dota2. Also the matchmaking is waay better.
