Tower prefer to attack an enemy that is hitting it and the nearest to it (if there is other creep). So to avoid being hit just dont attack the tower when it last hit a creep and it will switch to other creep or just dont get too near to the tower when aa-ing while the other creep is hitting the tower
6.99 update : tower now have an artifical intelligence to aim hero with lowest health. and it now can use skills and buy items based on it gold on last hit creep and react accordingly to enemy items.
7.14 - Tower now are able to move on their own.
7.29 - Tower now started to gain control of the game. From now on Towers will determine the patches
Tiny loses his bonus damage against Structures.
It's been the same, it will always focus the creep if it aint dead! take a pause while it finds another creep and don't attack or it will focus you. Once it sends the attack to the other creep hit it! and keep hitting until right before it dies. Keep doing the same shit
u can find all this info on liquid's wiki, i guess
afair the towers' priorities are:
1) enemy heroes rightclicking allied heroes (if u use some sort of a modifier like frost arrow, it doesnt count)
2) closest target attacking the tower
3) closest taget
4) siege creep
7.30-Towers now have a 50% chance of hitting with a 450% crit.
7.31-Towers no longer move on their own
7-32-Towers now have a faster-fire rate and every 15 min's it gains one extra projectile
Well, you can sort of buff towers with bloodlust and living armor.
I am expecting a tower builder/architect kind of hero in the future that have more interaction with buildings and structures.

I think tower had been getting more and more intelligent since 6.10. They always seem to focus on heroes first. Nowadays, it is very hard for melee heroes to get cheat shot at the towers to slowly chip it health away without getting 1 to 2 tower hit. Do you have any tricks to avoid them hitting you nowadays, besides the classic click on your creep?
