You should work on farming and such before you play any jungle-centric hero. Especially Doom and Alchemist like was suggested.
Doom has Devour, which takes a neutral creep's abilities; and without a bit of practice with him, it could be very bad for you. Also, clutch Dooms on key heroes in teamfights are the reason to play doom. Sadly, doom is sorta meh with the huge burst that this patch is known for; so even though you mute one person for 17 seconds, the fight is long over before that.
As for alch, you need to farm at a reasonable rate; to keep Greevil's Greed rolling. Alch is built around lots of farm, if you can't keep your Greevil's stacks up; you fall too far behind.

@DasClaw doom is one of those heroes i wish i was good with but im a support at heart really, when i first started playing i thought alchemist was a support, ill work on farming, is there any items that are pretty essential for him apart from armlet and boots? like a radiance or Mjollnir
Jungle doom is super easy to play actually, it just kinda sucks. The nerf on doom's ult was pretty harsh.
I think Doom's ultimate will be buffed or something along those lines. He is a lot of fun to play, but the current meta of ultra bullshittery doesn't fit him.

well first of all if your friend isn't close to 5k mmr dont listen to him and find some reliable sources of information

When i started playing dota 2 my friend gave me a list of heroes to avoid playing and Alchemist was second on the list behind DOOM. However I actually like Alchemist but scared to play him more in fear of messing games up for my team mates. I'm just curious as for the best way to play with him and the roles he plays and the best items to build for him. I consider you guys the pro's so any advice, help and tips are more than welcome and appreciated. Thanks guys :)
Oh and the most important question "should i really play with him if i'm crap at DOTA? or is that just a bad idea haha"
