Hmm I actaully gonna try the alt ones

I really gott figure out some better he keys tho for some reasons only seem to have good cordinatiom inmy index, middle finger and thumb , my ring finger and pinkie suck

but i only really use the first 4... i would get 6 actives, i even do sometimes but i dont have close hotkeys for them... as i use legacy keys, i dont have extra slots for the other 2 keys... i literally use every key from the left (including shift and tab and all that) to:

i o p å (+ 1 more slot ^)
h (stop at h)
b (stop at b)
maybe i should change kp_5 to "N" ill try tht later
and for the numbers i use them all up to "7"

how do we use alt? Please tell me

I use space bar, x,c,v, z in order of priority. blink on space bar

T - X - C

V - B - Spacebar

(b is usually for items that don't have hotkeys or my TP, spacebar is for blink dagger, x is usually for boots, then the rest are a mix)

i use (w a s d) for moving camera

(1 2 3 4) abilities and (R F) for heros witch have more abilities such as ember spirit or earth spirit

alt+1 alt+2 alt+3 ... for micro usually meepo cuz i played like 500 games on meepo

(E) for stoping attacks or moves (Q) for attack click or deny or sending meepo clones to kill jungle camps ( using Shift queue )

(~) for quick buy and (G) for buying tp scroll

quick cast ability alt+w Alt+D ...

weird haa ? anyone else using w a s d for moving camera or its just me ? i used to it from star carft or ward craft and red alret and command conquer series

and I use B for the shop and N to quickbuy, habit from CS and age of empires2, where B opens the build menu

All on quickcast.
@Crudude, get a mouse with sidebuttons, it's great. And scrollwheel may be reserved for the optional camera movement option.

^Aimstrong does this, it drives me up the wall.

mostly noobs dont use legacy and use 1 2 3 4 5 6 for items...

nothing wrong with that btw. Its just not effective

i use legacy on invo/sf/puck, as i cant play with df because i find it annoying. but items on 123456 seem fine to me. i find it easier because i just move my fingers a row above, instead of having them spread all over the keyboard or accesible with just the thumb. never had a problem with active items. on 5/6 i carry tp and some other passive, and 1234 is ez

I use 3 extra mouse buttons and F for active items, 2 items don't have a hotkey (it's rather rare to have more items that need an instant activation).

wtf all these weird combos people are doing are legacy keys? Cus I don't understand at all how like s v and spacebar are effective, those keys are not by each other at all. I just do 123456. I mapped x to select hero and c to select minions and v to select both, then use tabs to switch between. I can't remeber off hand my courier hotkey... that's weird, I know I have one though! I think it might be t?

legacy keys aren't inherently any better, some are laid out stupidly, it's just what you are used to.

Alt + q w e d and mouse 4 and 5. Alt f + c + r for quickcast or I change alt w to quickcast when needed. Space for select all units.

V is by your thumb, so is space. 1-6 means you're not using your thumb which is inefficient. B is a fairly common item hotkey apparently, but if your hands are smaller then V is closer to QWER. if you have to move your other fingers to reach 6 then that's not efficient either in the event that you need to use 2 items/abilities but you they're too far away. if all your hotkeys are a fingertip away then you never have keys that you can't reach, being next to each other isn't important. B and N are next to each other but I can't reach N while I can reach B. doesn't mean N is a good hotkey.

space is good for double tap self casting for example for TP, euls, force staff or e-blade, although sometimes I put phase / treads on it because it's easily accessible and you can't mispress it.

I use only quickcast and hold ALT if I need normal cast.

I play with legacy and use Q, TAB (usually don't need to micro, but i'll swap with Z if I need to) 4 for TP, SPACE, and 2 side mouse buttons for thinks like wand/pt switch
never tried quickcast :P

^androgynous: aha, i see your point now. but having a button for each finger is easier than having 1-2 buttons for thumb only. the other fingers are much more mobile/faster. but i could use 1234 and f/c/v/space, but most of the games, i wont have more than 4 active items.

Boots on space unless tp boots. Tp on mouse 4 Wand/dust/similar on Mouse 5. C is my main active item like armlet, force or mek. X is for soul ring, bottle, wards etc.

Z also has a quick cast button on my mouse that I use for blink, sheep, urn, medalion etc. (Logiteck G700s has 3 macro buttons just left of the LMB, I use the forward most of these, the others are voice chat buttons for in game ptt and voip ptt).

I use a really fucked up button arrangement in general though (WASD camera for a start.)
I use alt shortcuts for shop/stash hotkeys and to jump to most recent ping.
