Less is more, the less people try to communicate the better because no one like the players they're with. I would much prefer a high performing team that says nothing than a poor performing sack of players with lots to say.
Communication doesn't mean pushing your theories, or ideals onto other players in game.
Dotabuff is an internet forum, therefore it will have a lot of conflict threads. Even on the most respectable forums... actually even in peer reviewed scientific journals, most of the writing people do is just to disagree with someone. It's a basic human trait.
If everyone agrees there is less talking. Imagine if you completely agreed with what someone wrote => would you say so? Most people will not. That is why the threads seem to be so contentious. Only the people who disagreed bothered to write most of the time. A thousand people may have read the topic and thought, "Right on!". But they don't say anything.
In forums that show hits per thread this was more obvious. I have seen a lot of posts where their were 500 reads, and only 2 comments which were to disagree.
