Logitech is a pretty popular and good gaming mice brand. They have one for $40: http://gaming.logitech.com/en-us/product/g100s-optical-gaming-mouse
Other popular brands are steel series and razer.
The G100s actually looks pretty good. I can look into some reviews on it.
I would like to hear how other people think of it. (Also, I haven't heard a lot of good things about Razer. Their quality seems to have degraded over the years.)

I got this mouse in december. I basically read reviews of a legit source and was convinced that this would be the best solution for me. It is durable and very easy to handle. Big pluses are the precision, ingame dpi shifting (can be annoying if u misclick, but can be easily turned off), extra weights, very good software support including programming of buttons. It might be too much compared to what ur asking for. I'm just very happy w it and recommend this mouse. I also recommend Logitech in general, but don't have much exp w razor or steel series.
edit: meh, this one is ofc not under 40$ except maybe used. hence g100s is maybe better for u.
MX518 100% also the new dota2 mouse isn't that expensive..
Also I have an used MX518 which I replaced with a new one if anyone wants it.
Sadly the G100s isn't that available in my country. I might have gone for the Roccat Kone if I had a higher budget, but I think I'm settling with the Kinzu V2 which I got for like $25 (which was like also $20 cheaper than the V3). I was also looking at the MX518, but again, the price was over my current budget for mice.
Thanks for the tips guys!
my advice to anyone, never buy gila
only retard would ever buy that mouse so don't be one like me
get trust GTX 166; pretty happy with it; comfy and customisable+ (max dpi is too damn high!) lots of keys for those pro-meepo playa's

For now, I'm thinking of the Steel Series Kinzu. Heard good things about the steel series.
Honestly, my main goal now is to find a really durable mouse. I don't need additional buttons. I'm not only going to use this for gaming (my projects require very click intensive stuff).
I just need something that doesn't look like a space ship. Something with good dpi (or relatively good dpi). Something that will last me. Oh and, no wireless mice.
