I think mostly people who wants to gift compediums buys them from market, to be sure they don't activate automatically.

when you buy it gets to your inventory and then you simply trade it to him. It also leaves a permanent engraved message on the first page: "Gifted by genrous support <your name>" You don't have to do it via market. :D

It has higher price cuz if you sell on steam market, valve takes some taxes and you dont get the actual price which is shown there. And people dont rly want to go deep under the original price. If you would buy one for 7,61 (which is currently the cheapest), the seller would get only 6,61 euro.
I assume they didnt buy it from dota store, thats why they are selling and trying to get a fair amount of cash for it.

When ESL compendium came in (for the same price), i sold a few one for 8,3 but still didnt really won much, just a few cents.
