I think he's a good mid now that you get a freaking clone at lvl 3.

Good vs most melee heroes, maybe not bs/dk (those two come to mind)

Can start zoning fairly easily by lvl 3-4 with double poof while getting cs.

Though I haven't had enough experience with meepo in Dota 2 so I can't contribute anymore ):

a good meepo player can crash any casual mid hero pudge sf storm etc. and snowball out of control

Yeah meepo is actually quite a good mid against certain heroes. Several of the better meepo players I know take him mid and swear he is decently hard to beat due to having the divide at level 4 which frees you up to tag runes, gank etc. while always having a meepo either camping mid or junlging/stacking camps.

I am fucking bad at meepo, weird thing in Dota1 I was an amazing Meepo, Slark, Invoker but sadly that never carried over :P

I would try mid meepo but i feel like it's a bit too risky for me (because i still suck). I think it's safer for him to lane with a babysitter for ez kills. But at the hands of extremely good meepo players, i think they would easily stomp most heroes mid.

I recently had my first online game with Meepo, after about 30 bot matches :). And it was allot of fun, it was against people who obviously not played against a good meepo before, And I stomped. Meepo is almost as fun as axe, and I want to play quite a bit more as Meepo. That Blink poof is pretty epic.

I was terrible at Meepo Dota1, luckily that didn't carry over.

Well he's good mid. you should try to zone out your opponent at level 3. I start with stout shield tango +1 or 2 salves and send courier to the secret shop to buy orb of venom ASAP and it is mostly delivered when I hit lvl3, if your enemy is squishy shit like SF or Storm you can kill him without problem since they mostly aren't cautious and don't keep range advantage. Also, don't underestimate blink and scythe. Blink gives you much needed mobility and scythe is good disable against disablers(sandking,ES(echoslam has 0 cast time so it won't help if he's initiating even if you have fast hands),ES) and people who can escape from you(ES,ES,slark(care to time it properly), storm). it also disable evasion which is problem for meepo as an only hero that gets 0 benefit from MKB.
If your opponent left to gank and side-lanes are OK try to push down towers since you can insta-clear whole creep-wave for almost no cost.
The most retarded shit is that there are tryhards that want an easy win and counter-pick you a lot and meepo is an easy gank target if enemies can actually kill you if you fight back like here http://dotabuff.com/matches/643072036 .

Which boots do you go with first? I went tranquils, was going to get BoTs but the game ended.

Get ember spirit. Ez mid vs meepo.

I go tranquils first as well. You just cant afford to go to the fountain after every clash or harassment and high move speed helps,too. Nice alternative would be Power treads+Mek, which is good when your team has stuff to buff you like AA or Lycan with early howl. Also, if you pick him early and get countered hard, you should consider running him as a support so the pace of game is not fully up to you.

I refuse to play meepo anywhere else but mid.
Its most rewarding but obvioisly risky as well.

Personally meepo owns everyone at mid if played in the right way. And ember vs meepo, i woudnt say its a ez win for ember. In fact its a lost game for ember. Ember only starts countering meepo when he is fat. By running ember mid against meepo, i will actually be v glad. At least i can shut his farm down early. But if he goes other lane i cant monitor his farm and just hope that my team dont feed him too much. And usually meeting a ember mid u will kill him at least 2 times before 6.

it's hard to say though... generally you would have to be fairly good to play meepo decently, and if you put an equally skilled player on ember, it shouldn't be too difficult to dodge nets with W and then remnant away to your safe spot.

^yeap laning phrase before lvl 6. After that it become almost impossible to kill ember alone due to his ulti. But then again, this is not an issue faced exclusively by meepo. So i woudnt say its because of this that ember counters meepo. Rather ember can win meepo only when he is fat, and that is basically what happens when you have a skilled ember. He will farm up fast. But then again dota is a team game, so u can more or less rely on ur team to help stun/ shut down ember early game, preventing his farm. Even if all else fails, getting a fast vyse shd allow u to whack down ember fast. Ember have low health, in the duration of vyse its sufficient to kill him. And then again the ability to farm up a vyse after agha and dagger asap have to do with the skill of the meepo player.

What do you do in cases like that? Avoid team fights? maybe I should have got a sheepstick and used it on Warlock

Yeah warlock is annoying. You either get hex or ask someone to pick silencer.

Had my worst Meepo game yet, Meepo game number 6 http://dotabuff.com/matches/648953208

Bot lane both died at lv 1, and they just got fed and I ended up just feeding. In the first 15 minutes of the game, we where 6 levels below some of the heroes. I did just not know what do as Meepo. My poof did so little damage, jug just avoided every single team fight. I would blink initiate and my allies would disappear, after I told them I would initiate. I was the odd guy out, the other 4 where in the same stack, and disruptor claimed mid.
It was also against a 5 man stack, I suppose it was just one of those games.

What can you do as Meepo if you get shut down early game, and your enemy out levels you? I am used to having the lvl advantage and winning with that.

Can you play with 4 man stack? I thought they changed that..
Anyhow, if your team really tries to ignore you (farm/help/call wise) then all you can do is be selfish.
Farm jungle, wait for fights to break out but do not initiate. Meepo is really good at flash farming so you can usually outlevel people even after shitty start.
If you win only so much as 1 team fight where you kill 4/wipe and you survived its an easy ~1.5/2k gold in 2 minute span. And thats your blink/half aghs whatever. So even if you do trail dont give up, it can change all too fast with meepo.

Then again there will be time where you just get flat out stomped and nothing you can do will help. You shouldnt so much focus on individual games but rather at group of games as a whole and see how well you did on average.

Also looking at the game (besides jugger build that gives me shivers) they had teirrble composition for you.
Basically you cant initiate or you will end up perma dead. In these games where your only hope is that disruptor/es hit a combo you can only wait and put hope on them.
Dota is a team game, sometimes your team needs to help you in order for you to help them.

@vks there are only handfull of heroes i wouldnt feel comfortable going against, higher mmr or not.

Meepo is my designated feeding hero.

Meepo is my all time favorite hero to play. It only gets borning when try hards counter you to hell.

What happened was that I waited until I started losing money and then picked and only then did they pick.
