There is big difference between those who read and those who typically post. Dotabuffs audience is probably 90% below 3.5k MMR.
That's not just the case for Dotabuff, its just how forums work. The vast majority never post anything. In the case of dotabuff, anyone who does not have a lot of success in the game is afraid to post even to ask questions because they see the childish and rude responses they are likely to get whenever someone does dare to speak.
The top games are nothing like most pub games. You can see it easily on the stats.
4 million games of Drow Ranger this month. Average winrate was 52.73%, Average KDA was 1.85... in what games do you think Drow is winning over half the time with 1.85 KDA? These are autoattack games where drow feeds like mad, but still wins eventually because she gets to a point where she can win by autoattacking. Drow is very good at autoattack farming.
The typical pub experience is so far away from the games you elite players are accustomed too you really may struggle to believe it. In the typical pub game Ember Spirit and Io are autoloss picks because no one can play them. The same for Morphling, Antimage, Tinker, and Batrider... these heros require more skill to use even at a basic level than the average pub player is capable of handling.

Look at my games with drow! At 3500 mmr support drow works! At least the kind of support that buys courier, wards and do the harassing on lane.
Yes, I like to play support troll warlord. But you have 2.80 KDA for drow. That's way above the average 1.85. And 76% win vs 53%. You are not autoattacking.

The blog never stated "for 3.5k players and up", nor was the post made only for the 40 or so people that frequent this forum.

now srsly i think u may want to rethink about that shit. yeah you got alot of stats n shit but here the players are high skilled... People reading these forums and blogs usually have a 3,5k+ rating. Its very rare that someone here has below that.
We all know that newbies suck at Tier6 heroes, yet in high levled pubs those heroes are friggn terrifying. You may want to write something which concerns people on a higher level and not the avg. player, since player who are interested in their stats etc. are more likely players who are acually pretty decent at this game.
