Its a good build for Slark. I think people just hate how hard it is to shut down and how "gay" it can be when playing against it.
While people will argue about it being easy to shut a Slark down, a good Slark player vs quite a number of very good other players will still have a pretty easy time of it with Slark being such a great hero.
I can see the charm of an early game soul ring though, never quite thought of that. +1, though I rarely play Slark.
I don't even mind when the opponent team rages, I actually enjoy that, what bothers me is my own stupid team picking on me for that build. I enjoy a lot playing Slark (almost 500 games soon).. too bad I have to put up with shit like that all the time. I can't play with friends every game, and almost all pubs think they're Slark experts.
Regarding the soul ring, I prepare it for when I'm level 6, that's when it really gets into play and remains useful even until late game. It helped me escape/get kills countless times. Soul ring is a must-have on Slark mainly because of his ability to quickly regenerate. Basically allows for free pounce+darkpact/ulti with no hp and mana loss, or it can grant you a pounce to safety/kill when you're out of mana.
"free paunce+darkpact/ulti) what is this game where soulrings are free ?
It's not free, just the first item I build on Slark before anything else, so I have it ready when I hit level 6, regardless of having a good farm or not.
"48% why do you even play?"
What's that supposed to mean? I actually have more games won than lost, but the abandoned count as lost games. I had to leave due to real-life concerns even when I was leading and winning the game single-handed.
I really don't give a flying shit about your opinion on how good of a slark player I am and it's completely irrelevant to the topic.
lol
asks for opinion
doesn't give a shit about opinion
How about you don't behave like a borderline retarded kid and try out some different heroes / itembuilds / skillbuilds. If your winrate with slark alone would be at LEAST over 50%, yeah, MAYBE your build would be okay. Your items are almost all highly situational, you just build them every single freakin' game. That's just why you're a bad player. Learn to adapt. Learn to react.
And god fucking change your name, just let's you seem a little more retarded and or 14 years old. Seriously.
This report system is so stupid anyway. You should never be able to report someone because that person has an odd item build.
it's broken volvo plz fix riot
played hundreds of slark games never ever bought a soulring on him why would u buy that shit
on squishy shit hero that needs shit tons of survivability
Papa Het, your initial reply has nothing to do with the type of opinion I asked for. Me being a good or bad Slark player doesn't make the SB+Orchid build something I should get flamed for almost every game I play with pubs. I played different heroes, I enjoy Slark the moost. I tried different itembuilds and skillbuilds and found the current one I'm using to be the best for the way I play Slark. The fucking winrate has little to do with the itembuild as you can't really win a match when it's packed with retards on your team.
Either way, I'm not here to cry about others picking on me, just asking for ways of better handling a specific set of mentally handicapped team-mates.
"played hundreds of slark games never ever bought a soulring on him why would u buy that shit
on squishy shit hero that needs shit tons of survivability "
"never ever bought a soulring on him" - if you never tried it why would you even post negative comments about it?
I'm not saying that you should activate the soul ring a moment before encountering an enemy hero. You can use it while out of enemy sight and attack before its effect wears off, that way you go in with full hp and extra mana pool. That's just one of its many uses on Slark.
The winrate and different builds of Vaikiss`742, who actually IS a good player, just disprove everything you say and claim. It's really that simple.
Soul ring is a very good item, it is like free mana, cos you can press it and use ulti and your lost hp will regenerate.
Papa Het - No, it's not that simple. You're an ignorant fuckhead unaware of the complexity of life. While his win-rate with Slark is higher than mine, there's a lot of stuff you didn't take into consideration, like for how long I'm playing the game, have I ever played it before dota2 was released, the people I'm playing it with. Whenever I played Slark as part of a 3-5 people party, we won 95% of the games (with me dominating over 75% of the matches). Most of the games I've lost with Slark are not because I'm a shitty Slark player, but because of extremely stupid team-mates.
"Bad to the bone
Soul ring is a very good item, it is like free mana, cos you can press it and use ulti and your lost hp will regenerate."
Not only that, but it allows you to take insane control of your lane once you hit lvl6. Allowing for free pounce+dark-pact combos without loss of mana. Not to mention that if you need a small mana boost to pop a skill it can make the difference between getting killed and getting a kill/escaping.
http://i.imgur.com/bi5ElEO.jpg
actually tried to make random items on slark it works even in very high level pubs with players who has thousands of wins
so i guess even soul ring is legit
"You're an ignorant fuckhead unaware of the complexity of life."
"unaware of the complexity of life"
"complexity of life"
"complexity"
plays same hero with same build every single time, thinks the other ones are ignorant and stupid and unaware of the complexity of life.
Man guys like you just really light my fire kid :D
As mentioned before, I play Slark because I find it the most enjoyable hero- it's personal preference. The fact that you're a nut-head isn't changed by that. I'm probably older than you, but meh, who am I to ruin your ego-boost for calling me a kid. Now, if you would kindly fuck off and stop replying on a thread you have nothing to contribute to it would be highly appreciated. If not, carry on being a retard, can't really stop you.
@ OP, The build is great and people who don't play slark will flame it because he is an invis hero but you MUST as the others have pointed out be prepared to go different builds on him (even if you don't change heroes, which you should)
I find that build works best against a team of squishys with escapes/stuns (venge, lina, cm, qop, silencer all come to mind amongst others)
@ Vaikiss, genuine lol to that build.
"I find that build works best against a team of squishys with escapes/stuns"
I agree, yet with the same build, played correctly, I took on a fully farmed tanky Doom (which had full hp and all spells ready) 1vs1 and won the fight without a sweat. That particular build allows me to kill or disable priority targets before a team fight starts most of the time leading to victory. Even if the opponents have a gem, it's still not an issue unless they 5-man the rest of the game, but then their towers remain exposed.
Still trying to explain to people the importance of shadow blade on Slark in-game.. few seem to understand the advantages of regenerating to almost full HP without leaving the fight scene all while Slark's ulti is getting ready for another use.
If you're really older than me you probably wanna see someone with that attidude, a shrink or so.
Why does it not surprise me that you're also the kinda guy who corrects other peoples grammar in a dotaforum. Why does that not surprise me!
shadow blade good
orchid too expensive unless u got 0 disables in team and playing vs antimage/qop/storm/etc
id rather get skadi for survivability + Slow
"Why does it not surprise me that you're also the kinda guy who corrects other peoples grammar in a dotaforum. Why does that not surprise me!"
The guy wanted to improve his English, I was merely helping him. It's not like I jump in randomly and correct people's mistakes. I do mistakes of my own and I gladly accept help or constructive criticism.
And what Vaikiss said is not the end of the thread. I was asking for optimum ways of dealing with the ever all-knowing experts we all meet in pub games.
And as a side note, while the orchid is indeed expensive, it has a nice components set which can be bought from the side shop. The most you have to gather is 900 gold, twice. Offers attack speed, damage and mana restoration as it is being built. The fact that its components aren't expensive allows for quick-buys before imminent deaths which is nice because you don't lose gold as opposed to saving up for a more expensive item. I usually try to get the shadow blade first, but if I'm to die, I buy orchid components- better that than to lose gold.
just kill yourself already!
u are at best an avg slark player in very high skill level!
go fuck some more normal skill level noobs and never come back.
just cuz a bunch of noobs play high skill level together dont mean they are awesome so stfu
Wtf yo go for Soul Ring if you have Orchid. Also no BKB makes that hero die very easily and I don't think you get one either.
Its understandable that you would think the build is good since it has succeeded for you sometimes. However this is mostly because you have simply not been playing against talented, knowledgeable players, and certainly not organized teams. You have 10% games in High and 90% in Normal, with zero Very High. Because you almost never are against teams that regularly have true sight, and never face teams that are capable of helping each other quickly...this is why this weak, risky build can work for you.
So you are playing in Silver and Gold...but are even below average on slark for that level of play...consider your record on slark. You have only won 49.38% with 2.85 KDA, the average slark in Silver is 52.28% win with 2.73 KDA and Gold is 51.5% with 2.73 KDA. You may catch a few more kills than the average Silver and Gold level slark player but you trade that for losing more games.
Many people have a sense that the build is weak and will cause them to lose even if they can't articulate it. That is why they get upset about it even if you are doing well that particular game. Consider getting basher, SnY, and Skadi. You will find that you succeed even more with slark doing that once you get used to it. Playing against bad players you probably can skip the bkb, but you still need to tank. Otherwise you will have to only go for pick-offs and will seem like a ksing coward trying to make that weak build work...that is why ppl get mad.

What he said.
I always buy dust/sentries, pretty much every game supports don't.
Ez life ez rares
item choices are the last thing you should think about when you actually want to be decent at this game
obviously you could listen to any of these clowns' item builds but in the end everything is situational and thinking about it while neither you nor your opponents have a clue how to play this game properly is a fucking huge waste of time
On another note...Vaikiss stupid build succeeded only because he is very talented. Its a terrible build for slark. Experienced players know that of course, but I feel bad for some poor nub who tries to do it, feeds, and gets flamed. Don't build random items on any hero. If you are far far more skilled than the opposing players you could play with no items and win...that is why Vaikiss can win with items that are mostly useless.

its like my sf!
i once went necro 3 dagger, refresher and bkb on my sf (might have had an eul too but im not sure!) by purely farming woods and defending and was able to trade my life with 4-5 heroes of the enemy team by casting everything when i saw they were positioned badly! won that game on that fucking single fight were i showed my refresher ^^!
i do that too!

but idk why u get flamed though
btw why gem if u ever ask
unstoppable rampages
they plant a ward, u kill it and ult then rape everyone

I play a lot of slark myself, I deal with the Shadow blade flame so much, In high tier shadow blade is EASYWINEASYLIFEEASYRARESTHANKSVOLVO, In very high tier I tend not to play slark mid because im up against the nerdiest storm spirits/qop's etc. Shadow blade is low/mid tier stomp. In Very high unless you have a very co-ordinated team a bkb rush is absolutely paramount.
Shadow blade 12- mins is such GG though almost unstoppable.

The fact that you asked this stupid question (as many have done before even in-game) marks you as an incompetent player with little knowledge. I obviously don't get a Soul Ring after the Orchid, I only keep it most of the times after I've built the Orchid as it still proves useful when spamming skills.

I appreciate your input. Could you tell me where do you get that kind of information from and what determines the bracket I play in?
[You have only won 49.38% with 2.85 KDA]
When I started playing Slark I was a complete beginner in dota and I gave the hero a chance, but lost most of the games. I dropped playing that hero for a long time. When I revisited the it and actually began constantly playing with Slark I was experimenting a lot and that lead to lost games as well. When I started to actually be good with it, winning a match depended a lot on the team I played with. The main reason I'm losing games is because I'm not queuing with friends- besides winning I like to have fun and entertain random people with in-game music and sound effects (which would get old really quick if you would keep playing with the same people)
Here's a couple examples (far from the very best moments ingame):

I think it's because I somehow get to play with people who think they're all-knowing smart-asses, but I'm trying to keep a positive attitude whenever it happens- you can get communication bans so easily these days.
Yeah, that was an early abandon game, that dotabuff somehow erroneously counted. I did not succeed in microing the remaining heroes much.
---------------------------------------------------
You check your bracket in the game client. You go to watch, then recent games, then search for your name by skill bracket to find the replays.
The Silver/Gold thing is an estimate based on the now defunct DBR score. High games are typically Gold to Platinum. Very High Platinum to Diamond. Normal games are Bronze, Silver, and the lower half of Gold.
I don't know about orchid, cause i never build it on slark -i can assum some of the use of that item, but SR + orchid is pur waste of SR-, and if i really need those kind of disable i'd better buy (myself) hex
However, the shadowblade is pur shit, winning with sb on slark, just show how brain dead/bad are opponent (hopefully plenty are, even in "pro" scene). Come on, sentry ward is even more important against slark than against riki/nyx, and especially, on everyone, not only support. If everyone have sentry on them, not only your ultimate is severly fucked (and that should be the case if people weren't severealy brain damaged, since i see more sentry against riki than against slark). But you would also have wasted the gold of your shadow blade.
yeah sentry helps alot when u get hit
200 initiate damage from shadow blade initiation followed up by 250 250 from dark pact and pounce which is already 700 damage instantly
+ couple rightclicks and anyone is down at early stages of the game
i would like to see how many sentries u would get against my slark while my team would buttfuck u from every side of the map + u would have to buy sentries counter my slark too
@matrice and that comes to playing against me, notice why i have gem in most of my games? good luck with your sentries.
having a gem with you will result in u getting nuked down faster lal
even if i had gem, my mates would also buy sentries to counter your sentries.
rule of the thumb when im slark, kill the sentries before heroes
God all this slark talk is getting me all giddy for some slark action.
It's true though, As soon as a surplus of sentries come out, I beg the team for a gem(will always buy it when im ahead) sentries are no issue. High/very high tier is a bit different to low tier.

I get flamed (and sometimes even reported) most of the time when my team mates see me build a SB and Orchid on Slark. They call me a noob faggot even when I score 32-1 with plenty of assists. I would normally not give a fuck about what others say, but the sheer stupidity in some people is so obscene you just can't take it.
I'm so tired of smart asses laughing at me for getting a soul ring, shadow blade and orchid on Slark.. I rarely get to play a match without having someone complain on my build, even when I win the damn game for them.
Explaining to shit-heads why such items are good on Slark doesn't help in-game, insulting them leads to getting reported. What would you do? (Don't tell me to stop playing Slark, or to go for a different item build)
The most commonly retarded phrase I hear is: "Why would you need a SB, Slark has an invisibility ultimate? Fucking noob!"
I'm like :|
