finding a match in captains mode is not applicable in solo queue cause it takes more time to find a match than actually playing it.

ehm AP is by far the most popular game mode and that goes even more for the higher skilled games
if you look at dota tv the first pages are almost all -AP
people sometimes actually only select -AP because they want to avoid lower skilled games not because that's the only thing they want to play

think queue times should be factored in that too. I was in queue for 35 minutes still no captains mode game. just going to get on All pick then.

I don't think anyone will seriously play captains mode without being in a full party

I get what you mean, but the announcer does say when each team is banning, but who knows people like to listen music while they play and stuff.

if your are serious about playing a -cm game, you need to get a party.

CM is not really soloable for said reason ;-)
SD, RD, LP and AR on the other hand are... sadly those modes can take quite some time to get going in solo queue, as well.
Valve should just have implemented the solo queue as a mandatory thing, not an option. The current implementation is unlikely to ever provide a queue time that is as fast as the normal queue since a lot of ppl are once waiting 10-60 minutes and never use the solo queue again.

If you have AP selected, most likely it will find you an AP. For me solo queue takes ~3-4 min for AP (when I select AP/RD/SD/LP) and ~7-8 min when I don't have AP selected. Ah, and I did not see an LP game for about a week.
