So DBR is a system of ranking every one. Similar to SC2's ranking system. Take SC2 and a Plat player can't vs a Bronze player in a ladder game because Blizzards MMR algorithm only matches players from Plat with Plat and Bronze with Bronze (unless of course you're in the top 10? of each group where you'll play the lowest of the next group up)

So assuming VALVe's MMR algorithm is just as good, we shouldn't see Plat players being grouped with Bronze players. If I was a bronze player and I solo queued I would expect VALVe to place me with other bronze players.

So the only time you'll see issues arise is when VALVe's MMR system doesn't match players correctly. So rather than being angry at the weaker player, be angry at VALVe.

If anything a public DBR is good, it lets you know what skill level you're at and when you're improving as you will move groups depending on how well you play.

SC2 is not a 5v5 game my friend.

so, my points still stand. SC2 not being 5v5 takes nothing away from anything i've said.

Actually it does. Trying to balance a team of 5 people, who want to play on the same server, who are looking for a game at the same time, not in LPQ, some of whom are in groups of 2, or 3, or 4?

          Not easy.

I'm pretty bad at this game, but I often play with a much better friend. Lets's say I'm Bronze and he's Platinum. Where do you put us? Maybe match us up with 3 more silver players, get 3 silvers, a bronze and a Platinum for the other side? Sounds fair.

But oh shit, now the Platinum guy on the other team is whining about how he's always paired with noobs (having checked all his team mates), and bitches the whole game.

          Sounds like fun...

Well if that's the case you shouldn't really be queuing with your friend who is a plat player. If you want to improve and play with him you should play lobby games.

By you playing with him it's unfair to everyone else in the game and he is going to carry you. So now say you play 100 games with him and you're "Gold" but in reality had you solo queued and played your way up from Bronze you would of only been Silver.

Now you're a Silver ranked player who is only Gold due to your friend winning you so many games and you're playing with other Gold players and now you'd be the weakest link on that team so you're most likely to get raged at.

Valve should implement MMR limitations on match making that stops this from happening.

The fact is there is a Dota2 ranking system when matching just like SC2 though you can't see it and you don't know your own rate either. A master will never be matched with a newbie. You met some weaker players is just because maybe they are not familiar with the hero he used in the very game. Anybody can play a bad game though he is actually a good player.

Exactly, so if someone were to try and abuse him over playing bad when they look at his DBR it would be highly likely that they would share the same DBR an therefore it's unlikely he will be abused over it.

I don't want people to see my shitty gold rating tbh :/
