I was immortal before but dropped in mmr, the numbers remains. its not my highest ranked number however.
you have to get immortal then get even higher to get ranked numbers.
then if you drop your medal changes but your numbers stay 5000 ish. even if you were rank 1000-3000 like me.

I noticed on dotabuff that if you look at the medal, sometimes you see a ranking # even though they are not immortal. I thought only people who achieved immortal ranking could have their ranking # displayed on their medal but I have seen it on numerous occasions with divine and ancient medals. Can someone tell me why? My best guess is because maybe in the past, divines were allowed rank #'s (I don't think immortal medal was implemented yet)but that would not explain the ancient one.
