i used to play him a lot back when i was 3k but uh it was just mainly for fun. and now occasionally seeing him in pro scene as a core really surprises me (i like him a core than a support) but what are the reasons? is he good cuz he can cleave out any pushing lineup (as most lineups against him suggest) or simply because hes worth the pick? (cleave ignores armor, x-mark into boat & torrent, and stuff)

X-mark is probably one of the most OP early game spells in Dota.

X mark, along with glimpse, is the biggest bullshit early, imo

Like I started playing core Kunkka as a meme until I found out how much fucking fun it is 1 shotting supports off of creeps...

As a pro hero, I still think he's a support, he's very easily countered as a core. Only pros that even really know how to play him core are MidOne and !Attacker but he isn't on a team.

kunkka pair with WD or TWD is the worst offlane game i ever had. they can shutdown carry or offlaners easily. useful in gank and pushing. x mark ur carry, go fountain, go back and push. played usually pos 4 and early game and in late game he can turn into semi carry with dae.

i play Kunkka support mainly and love him but its nice to see his core potential coming through again. My only gripe with him as a core was always his apparent lack of tankyness... but between the armor, health regen and 25 strength talents the issue is alleviated to a certain extent i feel. Anyway... i love the hero in general so long may it continue...

Generally speaking, theres a few chinese teams that run him as a position 4 because he has a reliable catch and Rum is OP.
His best pairing for a carry is someone like GYRO, Both kunkka and Gyro have similar Cooldowns and offer a huge Aoe which generally offers a significant amount of teamfight for just 2 heros.

I love me some core kunkka, Midone/!attacker are 2 of the most formiddable core kunkka players.

The issue with core kunkka is the fact that he is difficult too transition into objectives, Very similar place too an Ember, If you can get him a good lane, and get him flowing he's good, without it, you're lacking a hero that can clear towers. The hero offers decent wave clear, alot of tempo control and scales for all stages of the game, not a weak hero by anymeans.

Core kunkka also relies alot on RNG, Double daed rapier Crits.. If you don't get your crit theres a good chance your teamfight is lost.
Having a core that relies on RNG isn't sortafter very often in the pro scene, especially with all the voids/euls in the meta

I'd say he's good vs heros like Qop, AM etc. Generally, core kunkka is a counterpick towards heros like 'DK' or 'Qop', due too tide not worrying about armour, good catch and boat negating burst damage.

I like the hero, but as a core, you're almost completely relying on your other cores too be able too push down towers or you're in abit of a predicament.

Also, if you pick core kunkka and they pick an OD, well. Goodluck with that.

Kunkka loses mid to a lot of laners, but he can win mid against others so know when to pick him
