I thought he was good even before 706, whenever it was his poison vs buildings got moved to level 20 and he got 20 armor at 25. Go mjollnir, farm like crazy. Nethertoxin scales really well late, people severely underestimate how much damage viper can do especially vs towers. His only issue is inability to flash farm but mjollnir solves that.

I will buy Mjollnir if they counter-pick with Phantom Lancer or Terrorblade. I try to avoid this item, as the bonus attack speed leads to unnecessary mana expenditure when putting Poison Attack on active. Otherwise, I have to constantly turn on and off in the middle of a hectic team fight.

? Just have it on quickcast and press q when you want to use poison attack.

Do you not quick-cast it for harassing in lane?

I don't use quick cast, just press q and click, but it's easy to toggle on an off in team fights. And idk how anyone farms fast without the aoe.

not really, sometimes you want poison maxed, usually a value point in corrosive skin but not always. Items is also very flexible but if going carry viper like for late game, not just gank and tank viper, I think mjollnir is core. Everything else can be swapped depending, though pike is probably second closest to core. I think standard build would be q,w,q,e,w,r,w,w,q,q

How good is "Poison Attack affects buildings", really? When I used it didn't feel that much impactful... or is that because its contribution is not that flashy unlike Tiny Aghs or something similar? +75 attack range looks so sexy, that's half the range of a Pike

mjollnir viper is very legit, the lightning procs lower health making nethertoxin deal more dmg (duh) but he also farms well with it.
I usually go pike into mjollnir with maybe some small item in between for regen.

Q immediately ticks the damage once the projectile hit.
I'm confused... so if the target is already affected by Poison Attack and I hit it again, the targets immediately get poison damage again?

No it won't. Wait one more second. Toggle it off for one attack and then back on. Casting it manually though nets you +25 range over vipers normal attack so early on when you hit slow I would cast manually. Later when you hit fast it'll be impossible.

For poison vs buildings it's not for the damage, it's for the slow. I'm pretty sure buildings have attack speed of 0 and bat of 1 so they attack once per second. T2's and T3's a little faster. Reducing that by 40 is a 40% dmg reduction then which is a lot. If you are 25 with the armor talent and slowing buildings you can tank t3s no problem.

His winrate also probably went up because of sven.

I honestly have no idea why people don't use quick cast. Orb walking is so much easier with it turned on. If everyone used quickcast I think his winrate would increase by 2% :-)

He is very easy to gank middle. Hard to kill solo but easy to gank.

i am confused as to why you wouldn't max nethertoxin first. It makes laning against you almost impossible because you can't approach the creeps with less than 75% health without risk of viper killing you. I feel like your much stronger in lane maxing nethertoxin rather than your q.

bearcat is right and wrong, Q harass is also important but it is ultimately the second skill that kills

it's situational. If enemy is hanging really far back nethertoxin does nothing, while you might hit them once with Q now and then. Like I said I like 2/4/1/1 build.

viper will be viper until 711

now, as winning your lane is even mroe important, imo viper is a great pick. you need to make sure to have aoe on your supports and offlaner tho.

manta is situational against silence and when u need a dispel but its not core

He is tough to kill alone, ranged, tanky, has DoT & slows.

He has always been a good hero.
